The February Monthly Round-Up
My intern having quit last week, it looks like the monthly round-up is mine to write this week.
I was fairly productive last month—on a roll even, having read an entire revised manuscript by one client and half of a new manuscript by a client—until my son got a cold and stopped sleeping through the night. We went eight nights without a full night of sleep in this house. Then last night, right before bath, the poor little guy runs straight into a doorjamb and gets a big knot on his forehead. So, even though last night was shaping up to be the first night he was actually going to sleep well, my poor wife got up at 2AM to rouse him and make sure he didn’t have a concussion.
So, needless to say, the last week and change have been quite unproductive.
That said, my offer of “Free” Express Review™ has resulted in some great support for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and gotten me to read several sample chapters of the many that are currently languishing in the pile.
So, where are we? In February 2010, we...
...Received 83 queries and declined 76.
...Received 6 sample chapters and declined 3.
...Received 2 proposals and declined 2.
...Received 1 full manuscript and declined 1.
...Have on-hand 54 sample chapters.
...Have on-hand 5 proposals.
...Have on-hand 3 full manuscripts by potential clients and 2 by actual clients.
It appears that the oldest sample chapter or proposal we have on-hand is from the end of July. If you submitted after that and you didn’t order Express Review™, either via TZC or as part of the offer to support LLS, then we likely haven’t gotten to your material yet. Presuming my son gets back to sleeping through the night, I hope to be more awake and accomplish more in the next month.
